Artist Statement
Moving to Cayucos in 1977 with my husband resulted in making a home on a life-defining ranch. We raised our family and created a life filled with love and art.
In 2011 my dearest friends persuaded me to join them in exploring printmaking. From that first wood block carving I was hooked. It is both 2 and 3 dimensional. Printmaking has infused new inspiration for endless playful possibilities. Pulling the print off the block is the wonder and excitement akin to opening the kiln door of a glaze fire. There are so many techniques to learn and skills to hone, I will never be done.
My first subject “Cone Nose” turned into a 7 year saga and is based on a drawing I did about 40 years ago. That one scene from long ago morphed into a series all hung in a solo show at the Santa Barbara Faulkner Gallery in 2018 and again in San Luis Obispo 2019.
Interspersed along the way my ranch animals show up. Currently, I am working on a series of self-portraits (my style) linocuts.
